The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board, or KSEEB, is regarded as one of the most prestigious Boards of India. The Board came into existence in the year 1966 and since then it has been conducting SSLC and various other examinations. Though in the initial years of its inception the number of students enrolled to the Board was not significant, but as the time passed, the strength of the Board grew by leaps and bounds. The Board is entrusted with the responsibility to regulate and supervise the system of Secondary education in the state of Karnataka. The Board governs and executes a number of activities that include devising courses of study, prescribing syllabus, conducting examinations, granting recognitions to schools and providing direction for all the secondary education institutes under its jurisdiction.
Since Karnataka Board came into existence in the year 1966, it has been conducting SSLC and various other examinations every year. In the month of April, approximately 8.5 lakhs students appear for the SSLC examination, whereas in the month of June, approximately 1.5 lakhs students appear for its supplementary examination. The Board ensures fair examination in its various examination centres throughout the state. The Board has set up divisional offices across the state in order to improve the evaluation system and the results. The main aim of the decentralization is to cater to the specific needs of the students at their doorsteps. The Board conducts supplementary examination in the month of June for all those students who do not pass in the examination conducted in the month of March, every year.
